Marie's practice encompasses corporate, employment and intellectual property law, as well as business litigation. From high-tech start-ups to long-established entities, she has advised clients on all aspects of employment matters, including executive compensation, benefits and incentive plans, insurance requirements, policies and handbooks, and severance and termination. Marie has also drafted and negotiated development, licensing and distribution agreements. Her intellectual property knowledge has helped clients on all aspects of copyright and trademark protection.
While associated with the San Francisco office of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger, Marie effectively litigated issues such as insurance coverage and regulatory matters, including reforms for California homeowners earthquake insurance, the California Holding Company Act, rate filing procedures and good faith insurance claims handling. On several occasions, her appellate work on major insurance issues brought her before the California Supreme Court. In addition, Marie was a founder and director of a business integration start-up company in Redwood City.
Marie is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal Court for the Northern, Eastern and Central Districts of California. She is fluent in both spoken and written French. Marie and her husband, a director of a biotech company, have two boys, ages 6 and 7.
